Who Are Total Fire Management?
Total Fire Managements founder and director is Mark Norgate who joined GMC Fire Service in 1978 at 18 and served for 32 years, retiring in October 2009 as a Station Officer having served for 9 years in fire safety. With the new legislation putting the onus of fire safety on the responsible person and seeing companies struggle to comply with the legislation, Total Fire Management was established to provide a professional, reliable, cost effective service with the following goals:
- Ensure that our clients fully understand fire and its dangers to ensure as safe a workplace as possible.
- To provide a service to business and the community that reflects the professional service the team provided during their careers in the fire service using the skills, expertise and knowledge that they gained from those careers.
All our consultants and trainers are from fire service backgrounds, are highly qualified and skilled in fire safety enforcement, hold the Health and Safety Nebosh qualification , are members or graduates of the IFE (institute of fire engineers) and have vast experience of 'professionally' dealing with ALL aspects of fire.
Mark's Career Profile
Mark joined Greater Manchester Fire Service in 1978 and served for 12 years as an operational firefighter at some of the busiest fire stations in GMC, Wythenshawe and Gorton. He was then promoted to Leading firefighter at Moss Side fire station then subsequently promoted to Sub Officer to Philips Park fire station in 1999.
He then tranferred into the Community Fire Safety (CFS) department covering all Manchester where he was promoted to Station Officer managing a team of 6 CFS officers and became responsible for developing several succesful programmes that equiped operational fire fighters with the skills to effectively deliver fire safety lessons in schools, he worked with young offended institutes to reduce the impact of car crime in GMC and developed working partnerships between the fire service and local authority service providers all of which are still ongoing today.
In 2005 Mark transferred into the Fire Safety Enforcement department for South Manchester as an inspecting officer and became the advocate for fire safety at Christies Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital and Manchester Airport as well as providing guidance to those responsible for for safety within business and enforcing fire safety in premises failing to comply with fire safety legislation.
